A soul-stirring solo debut by Maya McClean—artist, spiritual guide, and best known as one of The Twinz who toured the world with Prince’s New Power Generation.
After years of powerful inner work and creative evolution, Maya returns to her musical roots with Awakening, her first solo album born from deep transformation and divine alignment. Composing these songs herself on guitar and piano, and personally recording both instruments,
she's crafted music that is as beautiful and moving as it is meaningful.
She also weaves in the sacred resonance of ceremonial Mayan flutes, gifted to her in the Riviera Maya, Mexico—adding an ancestral frequency that grounds the album in earth wisdom and spiritual depth.
The music of Awakening is elevated by the masterful production of Prince's longtime musical director, Morris Hayes and former NPG member Kip Blackshire,
with additional production by 3x Grammy Award-winning producer Antonio Dixon (Beyoncé, Toni Braxton, Ariana Grande). Special guest performances by Grammy Award-winning icon Sheila E. and chart-topping Australian guitarist Taj Farrant bring additional layers of beauty, soul, and virtuosity to the album.
